SURVIVAL 101
Going from high school to college can be scary, but I promise if you make the most of it, you will love it here. So relax, breathe, and let me share some tips to ease your mind.
#1: GET INVOLVED. Everyone and their mother has said this, and now I am going to say it too. It sounds so simple, but it will make the biggest different. Go to info sessions, join clubs, learn about all the opportunities UNCW has to offer. Not only will you met some great people, but you can also explore your interests and have some fun outside of classes.
#2: Talk to your professors. Whether you need help with your classes or want to start establishing connections for recommendations, professors are a wealth of knowledge that you should use to your advantage.
#3: If you are struggling in class, get help as soon as possible. Not the night before the big test. Supplemental instruction, professors, and other students(try to get a fellow classmate's number. You never know if you are gonna miss something) are all great resources. Your GPA will thank you.
# 4: Find a study spot. Working in your room can be distracting. There are so many great places where you can get some work done like the library. If the library doesn't work for you, find somewhere else. My favorite is the clock tower room.
#5: Go to events. Free stuff and free food(probably pizza) is everywhere, and you might even have some fun and learn something.
#6: Resources are everywhere. You are already paying for them, so use them! They can make your life infinitely easier.
#7: Make the first move. It can be intimidating to meet new people, I get it. But you are all in the same boat, so stop waiting for other people to come up to you. Go up to them!
#8: HAVE FUN. Stop stressing. You are here for the next four years of your life. You might as well make the most of it!
